I love a good, tasty mayonnaise in my sandwich. Never in my wildest dream did I think of making my own because Hellman's Mayo was my favorite. Not until I made my own. I was also excited to know I saved lots of money by making homemade mayonnaise.

This homemade mayonnaise took less than five minutes to make. You probably have all the ingredients on hand anyway. I used an immersion blender to make this in a measuring cup, and walla! You have homemade mayo!

How to Make Homemade Mayo with Immersion Blender
Grab your immersion blender, a measuring cup, and some measuring spoons, and let's get started.
Mayonnaise Ingredients Needed
- Egg: The egg yolk keeps things from separating
- Salt: A little flavor to the mayo, perfect enhancement
- Sugar: a little sweetness to make the mayonnaise come alive
- Dijon Mustard: a little tang
- White Wine Vinegar: acidity to balance the sweetness
- Olive Oil: a good neutral oil that doesn't take away from the flavor
How to Make Mayonnaise
Ingredients Add egg, salt, sugar, Dijon mustard, and white wine vinegar into the cup.
Last Ingredient Add the oil on top of the ingredients. Allow the ingredients to settle and the oil to set on the top.
Start Blending Submerge the immersion blender into the measuring cup all the way to the bottom.
Start pulsing the immersion blender. The ingredients will start coming together, and the oil will remain on top.
Slowly move the immersion blender up and down to start incorporating the oil. Do this until all the oil is combined.

Storing Homemade Mayonnaise
Homemade mayonnaise has no preservatives, yay! This also means it will have a shorter shelf life. Place it in a mason jar or desired container and store it in the refrigerator for one week. This recipe makes 1 cup of mayonnaise, so be mindful of how much you make at once.
