This cheese sauce is incredibly easy to make, taking just 15 minutes. It's really creamy and rich, making it perfect for nachos, veggies, mac and cheese, and more.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

This will be your go-to recipe for all your cheese plates.

Family favorite! Grab a bag of tortillas, salsa, and this cheese sauce. Your family will devour it in minutes! A quick, easy, and tasty snack for the entire family.

Super Creamy! If you've tried to make cheese sauce at home and it turns out grainy, I am sorry you had to experience that. I did too. That's why I made my own recipe. It's not grainy at all! It's a rich, creamy texture that makes the best cheese sauce you will ever make.

Easy to Make. This homemade cheese sauce comes together in 15 minutes. It can't get easier than that for a quality, no-additives cheesy sauce.

Ingredients

Butter. Use a quality grass-fed butter for the best flavor and nutrition.

Flour. There are so many options on the type of flour you can use. I typically use the King Arthur All Purpose flour. You can also use whole grain or white whole grain flour.

Milk. Whole milk is my go to for the best flavor. It creates that rich flavor.

Garlic powder. Bring out all the flavors in the cheese sauce.

Salt. Just like garlic powder, salt brings together the flavors of all the dairy products and makes them jive.

Greek Yogurt. Important to use whole fat Greek yogurt. This also adds to the rich creamy texture.

Cheddar Cheese. A good quality cheddar cheese will make this taste amazing. I like to use yellow cheddar, but you can use white cheddar as well.

How To Make Quick Cheese Sauce

There are a few key things to keep in mind when making the sauce.

For full detailed instructions, see the recipe card. I will give you a few tips here to follow.

Start with medium heat and then turn down to low heat. This is important as the cheese and Greek yogurt will curdle and separate if you keep the heat too high.

Thicken the milk first. After you add the milk to the ragu, make sure you allow the milk to thicken before adding the Greek yogurt and cheese.

Be patient with the last step. Turn down the heat to low on the last step and spend a few minutes bringing the sauce to temperature. If you try to speed up the process at this last step, the Greek yogurt and cheese will start to separate.

How To Use Cheese Sauce

This recipe will be great in so many meals. Here are some great ways to use homemade cheese sauce.

  • Use as a dip with your favorite veggies or tortilla chips.
  • Create a nacho cheese bar and have this cheese as a topping. Grab the taco meat recipe and taco seasoning recipe.
  • Add this cheese on homemade nacho cheese fries.
  • This is the perfect mac and cheese sauce!
