This pie crust recipe is so easy to make that a ten-year-old can make it without messing it up. It's flaky, easy to roll, and made with butter.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

Easy to Make. This pie crust recipe is simple, with no special mixing involved, and without a food processor. My ten-year-old bakes pie with me, and she makes the dough herself every single time.

Flaky. I love how flaky this pie dough turns out. It's light and absolutely delicious.

Made with Real Ingredients. All my recipes are made with wholesome ingredients and this quick pie crust has no shortening. Made with real butter and King Arthur all-purpose flour. It is a healthy option for the sweet tooth.

Ingredients Needed

The ingredients are so simple and you probably have them in your pantry.

Flour. I use King Arthur All Purpose flour in most of my recipes. It's a great brand and a quality flour.

Sugar. This recipe calls for a little bit of sugar. It gives just a hint of sweetness. The perfect amount of sugar for a pie crust for chicken pot pie even!

Salt. Bring all the flavors together with salt.

Butter. The flakiness comes from the butter. My favorite brand is Kerrygold. It's creamy and rich in flavor.

Water. The water must be as cold as possible. I use refrigerated water, and that's cold enough for this recipe.

How To Make a Pie Crust Recipe

This recipe is so simple to make. With just a few simple ingredients and 5 minutes, your homemade pie dough is ready. Make this easy pie crust recipe by hand.

Step 1: Add flour, sugar and salt into a bowl and mix.

Step 2: Cut cold butter into small cubes. Using a pastry cutter, combine the butter with the flour mixture. You can leave small pieces of butter in the flour.

Step 3: Add four tablespoons of water into the pie crust and start mixing with your hands. Add three more tablespoons of cold water and continue mixing. If the dough is still too dry, add 1 more tablespoon of water and mix just until the dough comes together and there is no dry ingredients in the bowl.

Step 4: Split the pie dough in two, shape into a round ball and flatten. Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes before rolling.

How to Store Pie Crust

If you are planning, this pie crust recipe can be easily made up to 3 days in advance.

To store in the freezer, place the two round, flattened pieces of dough wrapped in plastic wrap in the freezer and store for up to 3 months.
