Chai syrup is incredibly easy to make using a can of sweetened condensed milk and a few spices, making it a delicious alternative to any coffee shop drink you will ever have.

I love a good chai latte, and specifically a dirty chai latte. I am a big coffee girl, so everything comes with a shot of espresso. I found myself asking the barista to add half the chai powder because it was so sweet and my taste buds couldn't handle that much sugar, and my love handles didn't like it either.

One of my good friends is a big fan of chai tea lattes and recently went to India. She mentioned how good the chai was in India, and it was not a powder, but had a sweetened condensed milk consistency. That week, I set out to test multiple recipes and create my own chai syrup.

Why You'll Love This Chai Syrup Recipe

Easy to Make. All you need is a can of sweetened condensed milk and a few spices that you keep on hand in your cupboard.

Authentic Flavor. Indian recipes are so delicious and this recipe is a twist of that culture and my taste buds.

Crowd Pleaser. I own a Nuova Simonelli Musica Espresso Machine (I highly recommend this one for high-quality at-home espresso shots and lattes). At home, we often host gatherings and always treat our guests to coffeehouse-style drinks. Chai is always on the menu, and boy, does this drink get popular with our guests!

Ingredients Needed

Sweetened Condensed Milk. To keep this recipe healthy and additive-free, I always opt for organic sweetened condensed milk.

Ginger

Cardamom

Nutmeg

Making this chair recipe is as easy as combining all the ingredients and mixing. Find the recipe card below for full instructions.

How to Store

Chai Syrup can be stored in a container or glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

How to Use Chai Syrup

When I think of chai, it brings cozy feelings, making me want to wrap myself under a warm, fuzzy blanket next to a fireplace, sipping on a hot drink with chai syrup, or enjoying a fall-flavored dessert. Here are a few ideas to help you get the fall vibes on in your kitchen.

  • Use this easy chai syrup in your favorite tea drink or black coffee.
  • Drizzle over any fall yogurt bowl like this apple pie Greek yogurt bowl.
  • Add chai syrup as a topping to your ice cream.
